Why can't the customer see the discount being applied to his purchases when using PayPal?

Question: A customer has finalized his order and he can see the discount being applied. However, when he clicked on the PayPal button to choose PayPal in the cart page as the mode of payment for his purchases, the discount disappeared and gave him the regular prices instead. Why is that?

Answer: There are recent changes in the PayPal software and one of these changes does not allow Shopify apps to apply discounts when using the PayPal button via the cart page. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. 

As a workaround, advise the customer to use the PayPal button in the checkout page instead in order to have a successful transaction. Also, to avoid confusion, we recommend setting the PayPal button NOT to be visible in the cart page so that the customers can avail of the discounts through using PayPal in the checkout page instead.
