Why can't the customer see the discount being applied to his purchases when using PayPal?
Question: A customer has finalized his order and when he proceeded to checkout, he can see the discount being applied. However, when he clicked on the PayPal button to choose PayPal as the mode of payment for his purchases, the discount disappeared and gave him the regular prices instead. Why is that?
Answer: There are recent changes in the PayPal software and one of these changes does not allow Shopify apps to apply discounts when using the PayPal button via checkout. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
As a workaround, we recommend setting the PayPal button NOT to be visible on the cart page during checkout so that the customers can proceed with the transaction and avail of the discounts using other mode of payments. For more details on how to do this, click here.
